LNG is natural gas that has been liquified at the source by cooling it to – 162°C. The Iveco LNG truck has a range of 700km en will decrease the consumption and the CO2 emissions by 10% with respect to conventional heavy trucks. LNG contains barely no fine dust and the emissions of Nox are drastically reduced. Furthermore is the engine of a LNG truck 50% quieter than a diesel engine.
The LNG truck will be combined with the Teardrop trailers from Ninatrans to obtain a maximum environmental improving effect. The streamlined shape of these trailers reduces the air resistance and therefor generates significant fuel savings.
This project is the result of the close co-operation between Ninatrans and DHL. An important aspect for DHL is the constant focus on the decrease of their carbon footprint. Ninatrans will use the first LNG-Teardrop combination on daily base for DHL.
Ninatrans strives to diminish the impact of transport on the environment. Once additional LNG-gas stations will be available, Ninatrans will switch a big part of its fleet into LNG-trucks.
