31/01/2013 – Flemish Minister-President Kris Peeters awarded the first Lean and Green award at the New Year reception of the VIL. Twelve companies received this award for their efforts to reduce drastically CO2 emissions and energy consumption of their logistic activities.
The winners of the first Lean and Green Awards are ABInbev België, Alders Transport & Logistics, Bayer Antwerpen, Chep Benelux, Ewals Intermodal, HJ Heinz Belgium, Hospital Logistics, Ninatrans, Snel Logistic Solutions, Vervoer Van Dievel, Vervoer Verbessem and Wim Bosman.
The Lean and Green Award makes the companies show their commitment to make their logistic activities more efficient and sustainable.
In order to achieve the award, companies must reduce CO2 emissions of their logistic activities and develop a plan to reduce the energy consumption and the CO2 emissions by at least 20%. Each plan is then evaluated by the research Mobi of the Free University of Brussels.
