One of the first customers of a scania with 410 hp gas engine in our country is Ninatrans from Leuven. ‘Gas engines now have sufficient power’, says manager Benny Smets.
‘In the past, the capacity of natural gas was still too limited for certain applications’, Benny explains ‘with 410 hp the gas engine is also interesting for us, mainly because of the lower CO2 emissions and less fine dust. We already have experience with LNG vehicles and are satisfied that Scania is now also presenting a more powerful model. It is not out of the question that there will be more vehicles on natural gas as it is, in our view, the most, certain and distant solution to drive more environmentally friendly. Other alternatives do not yet offer the same benefits. Especially now that the distribution network in Europe is starting to expand, we will switch to LNG for a large part of the fleet.’
